court order,access

Hello, please help my ex took me to court to get an access order. The magistrates did not take any letters from the children or school into consideration and totally went against their wishes.

The children are 13 and 11 and their father demands that they must go to him on xmas eve 10am to xmas day 5pm this year, the order was only issued on Monday. The children have already made arrangements being xmas is next month. They have begged him to let them be at home and until Christmas day eve. They have said they will go to him at 5pm on the 25th until 5pm on the 26th but he has refused.

The children are absolutely devastated and are now refusing to go at all over xmas. I know I have to encourage them to go but what happens if when he gets there they refuse to get in the car - what can I do?

Please help urgently

Thanks for your post. I guess the first thing I want to know is, how do you feel about them going to their Dad's at the time he has requested? I'm asking this because this might have quite an influence over how your children respond. That is, it will probably be easier for you to encourage and persuade them if you believe firmly enough that it's the right thing for them. You know your ex well enough, I'm sure, to know what sort of Christmas he will provide for them and whether or not they are likely to have a good time once they get there.
I guess one 'selling point' is that they can get to do it all over again with you the next day - 2 for 1 Christmas!
